Welcome to the Center of the Universe

dudes, this is totally going to be my facebook/myspace page, and it's going to be awesome. LOLZ. I'm going to post all my videos and pics, and sometime I'll show you this thing I did with some loops. I played it for my friend, and she was all like OMG.

Sometimes I won't have anything to write about, because I've been spending most of my free time looking at myself on the internet. WTF, my Xbox is getting all dusty. LOL. But I'll answer all the friend requests, just give me a minute, because I'm totally trying to figure out how to get my videos up on youtube. LOLZ.

Sometimes I go out and hang with real people, but I get kind of bored, so I'll pull out my blackberry and check my friend requests. LOLZ.

K, peace out.

Mr. Wolfer, I apologize for posting this question here on your personal blog. I meant to find your email, but I was only able to find Mamborama, so I'm CCing this to that address in the interest of being thorough and in hopes that you respond.

My name is Dave Benton - I'm a Production and Engineering major at Berklee. I believe you're an alumni? It's very cool to have discovered this. I wanted to speak with you about a school project I'm working on. For a production class, I'm recording a sound-alike. Essentially we need to pick any iconic song and remake it from scratch to sound as close to the original as possible - I picked Billie Jean.

I have access to a Yamaha CS-80, native instruments plugins and the real deal. I've got to recreate that iconic synth sound, a claim to fame of yours, so I figured, who better to ask than the artist himself? I want the best possible project and I absolutely love doing this stuff.

So that's my predicament. I would greatly appreciate any input you have to help me recreate your synth settings to get as close to the original as possible. I have great rhythm basics recorded and a spot-on singer, so the one last ingredient I need is this synth. As I said, I have access to the native instrument plugin and the synth itself, so I mainly just would like to know how to program that sound. Settings, pointers, presets, even photos of the controls... Anything would be greatly appreciated! Differences from the verse settings to the chorus settings (the layered CS-80, correct?) or even info you may have on the other synths would be great as well.

I can promise, as I know this is what amounts to asking a chef for his secret ingredients, that this info will not touch the ears of anyone in the synth department or further, unless of course, it's at your discretion =) I'm sure they'd be pleased to hear about it though. Lastly, if you're curious to see how the project turns out, I'll gladly send you a bounce so you can hear it! I have a couple weeks, but I'm doing my best to stay ahead of the game.

Thanks greatly for your time, and I hope to hear from you. If you can, please reply to my Berklee email, listed below.
